It has a wooden handle and a dome-shape tip made from kansa metal, which is a mix of copper, tin, and sometimes zinc. While it has been the desired device for thousands of years in the East, its benefits and use is still a novel concept in the West. This metal alloy (Kansa) is known in Ayurveda as the healing metal. It is thought that copper may help in reducing pain and inflammation, zinc in aiding the digestive and immune systems and tin in aiding digestion, headaches and insomnia.\n\nHow to use Kansa Vatki:\n\nThis centuries-old treatment begins by bathing the feet and legs to clean and relax them.\nThen the toes, feet, ankles and calves are encouraged to relax through the application of massage techniques carried out with various medicated oils, best suited to your Dosha.\nThe particularity of the treatment is the use of a small metal Kansa bowl to rub onto and stimulate the feet.\nThere are 107 main Marma points around the body, 14 of which can be found on the lower legs and feet.
