Rapunzel, Rapunzel! is a spin-off from the traditional fairytale. Before reading the Big Book version, students should be familiar with the traditional tale. For Kindergarten, you may want to tell the story orally, simplifying the storyline. Proceed with Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Students will use rhythm and rhyme in oral and written activities, will attempt and practice reading behaviours, will recognize the point of view of the story, will associate words and letters with sounds in a meaningful context, will recognize exclamation marks for placing emphasis, and understand purpose of the dialogue balloon and quotation marks.
