Good players can also choose the 13x13 board version for the games which they want to finish quickly. The 9x9 grid board is ideal for junior (age 5-8) beginners. They can learn without getting bored and can enjoy playing games that are not long in duration. 19x19 board is for professional players.

(Q) Why are there 140 (2x70) white and black stones and not 169 stones?

(A) 140 pieces are enough to play in 13x13 board. All intersection points will not be placed with stones.
